THE ART ON STREET
The Art on Streets
The project The Art on Streets is a proposal for recollecting these urban inscriptions and interventions, and, also, of the learning and experience I have acquired during the contact that I keep with renowned artists and graffitists. This was the way I found to show people the various forms of communication of these characters. As said be artist Leonel Mattos: "Art is the communication of life".
The collection has various pictures, from 1985, 2002 and 2006 onwards. At every moment a new work appears on the streets, mainly because of Project Graffita, of the Municipal City Hall of Salvador. Besides that, the graffitists that are not part of the Project Graffita, are freer to show their work.
The first phase has graffito with metaphoric and enigmatic phrases, full of political protests, irony, phrases from famous characters at the time, such as Faustino, Clímax, Afoxés do Carnaval, Kaos, BL, U.P.I., Formiga Atômica, Grupoema, Dr. Volo, Nemézio, among others, and people who use public spaces and media to manifest their emotions.
At the second phase are exhibited the work of various artists, such as Bel Borba, a pioneer of a new form of street art, using ceramic mosaics or tiles in his works.
The third phase shows panels of various artists and graffitists.
